Position
Summary:
Patient Access Service Representative is responsible for completing the inpatient and outpatient scheduling, registration and insurance verification process within Patient Access and creating the first impression of the Hospital's services to patients, family members and other external customers.
The Patient Access Representative must be able to articulate information in a manner that patients, guarantors and family members can understand while maintaining the highest level of customer service.
Accurately gathers and enters all information into the hospitals computer system to expedite efficient data collection, billing and hospital re-imbursement.
The Patient Access Service Representative works directly with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, insurance carriers and other professionals to assist families in obtaining health care and financial services.
Skills Required:
Must possess the technical ability to operate the printers, fax machines and general office equipment.
Must have knowledge of insurance eligibility software and access readers.
Must possess good mental and physical health, hearing and visual acuity to carry out Patient Access responsibilities.
Must be able to multitask, problem solve and maintain composure when dealing with stressful situations and utilizes appropriate resources.
Must possess interpersonal and communication skills at all times to effectively and professionally represent IRMC Patient Access Department.
Minimum Education Required:
High School Diploma.
One year Business or Medical Secretarial curriculum preferred with emphasis in customer service, knowledge of health care setting, or equivalent of education and job related experience.
Medical Terminology.
Minimum Experience Required:
Basic knowledge of revenue cycle process.
Basic working knowledge of automated scheduling, registration, collections and telecommunications applications.
Working knowledge of computers, software and hardware, Microsoft word and Excel.
Licensure/Certification Required:
Successful completion of medical terminology course preferred.
CPAT:
Certified Patient Account Technician preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
